Terms of Service

Last updated: July 16, 2026

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of Screengnie, including our website, Chrome extension, dashboard, and related services (together, the "Service"), provided by Screengnie ("Screengnie," "we," "us," or "our"). By creating an account, installing the Screengnie extension, or otherwise using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

1. Who Can Use Screengnie

Screengnie is intended for use by parents or legal guardians who are at least 18 years old, acting on behalf of themselves and their family. By using the Service you confirm that you are the parent or legal guardian of any child whose device you connect to Screengnie, or that you otherwise have the legal authority and consent required to monitor that device under applicable law.

2. What Screengnie Does

Screengnie provides tamper-alert and device-status monitoring for a child's browser via a Chrome extension, together with a parent-facing dashboard and notifications. Screengnie is a safety-awareness tool, not a substitute for parental judgment, supervision, or professional advice, and does not guarantee that it will detect or prevent every risk, tampering attempt, or safety event.

3. Accounts

You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activity under your account. Notify us promptly at noelene@screengnie.com if you suspect unauthorized use of your account.

4. Beta Services

Screengnie is currently offered, in whole or in part, as an invite-only beta. Beta features may change, break, or be discontinued at any time without notice, and may not be fully tested. We will make reasonable efforts to communicate material changes, but the beta is provided on an "as available" basis as described in Section 7.

5. Subscriptions and Payment

Certain features of Screengnie may require a paid subscription. Where paid plans are offered, pricing, billing frequency, and cancellation terms will be presented to you at the time of purchase and are incorporated into these Terms by reference. You may cancel a paid subscription at any time; cancellation takes effect at the end of the then-current billing period unless otherwise stated at checkout.

6. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

7. Disclaimers

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE," WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, WHETHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, OR NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, OR THAT IT WILL DETECT EVERY TAMPER EVENT OR SAFETY RISK. SCREENGNIE IS A SUPPORT TOOL FOR PARENTAL AWARENESS, NOT A GUARANTEE OF YOUR CHILD'S SAFETY.

8. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, SCREENGNIE AND ITS OPERATORS WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF DATA, ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM ARISING OUT OF THESE TERMS OR THE SERVICE WILL NOT EXCEED THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US IN THE TWELVE (12) MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM AROSE.

9. Termination

You may stop using the Service and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access if you violate these Terms, misuse the Service, or if we discontinue the Service, with notice where reasonably practicable.

10. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms as Screengnie changes. If we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, notify you directly.

11. Governing Law

TODO (needs your input before this is final): insert the country/state whose law governs these Terms and where disputes will be resolved (typically wherever your business is legally registered). This is a legal decision we cannot make on your behalf.
